InterLynk researchers from Maastricht University at the Biofabrication 2022 conference in Italy

26 Sep 2022

September 2022 has been an exciting month for our InterLynk scientists heading to several conferences, presenting first research results, and exchanging knowledge with colleagues from similar fields. The series of events is not yet over and InterLynk scientists from Maastricht University are happy to end this month with this year’s Conference of the International Society for Biofabrication, taking place from Sept. 25th – 28th in beautiful Pisa (Tuscany).

After two full years of online conferencing, participants are now finally back to in-person meetings. Recognising the importance of new research to fight pandemics, this year’s Biofabrication conference takes place under the motto “Biofabrication: a powerful approach for the development of new solutions against pandemics and for a functional personalized medicine.”

Three InterLynk researchers from Maastricht University will present at the conference. Prof. Lorenzo Moroni will hold an important keynote lecture on Monday, September 26th at 15.00 on “4D printing or not 4D printing? Mechanically actuatable 3D instructive scaffolds to steer tissue regeneration”.  Tuesday afternoon at 15.00 he will co-chair a session entitled "Termis meets ISBF" to see how links between the Tissue Engineering and Regenerative Medicine International Society (TERMIS) and the International Society for Biofabrication (ISBF) could be strengthened. He will give another talk on Wednesday, Sept. 28th between 9.00 – 10.30 on “Designing fiber patterns with electrospinning to guide skeletal regeneration”.

On Tuesday morning between 8.30 and 10.30 two InterLynk scientists will present at the same time, but in different sessions. Joanne Babilotte will present her research on “Melt Electrowriting of highly viscous polymers for tissue regeneration” in a session on new technologies for bioprinting, while Carlos Mota will hold a keynote lecture in a session on kidney and adipose tissue in vitro models.
