10 Sep 2021

The ESB conference, which this year took place in Sep. 2021 remotely from Porto, is held three out of four years and brings together scientists and experts from the biomaterial community from all around the world. This year’s conference, entitled Futuring Biomaterials, invited researchers to explore biomaterials in conjunction with advanced technologies, such as Nanotechnology, Biofabrication, Microfluidics and Bioimaging and to develop the clinical combination products and functionalities of the future.

In this intellectually stimulating environment, Lorenzo Moroni was invited as a keynote speaker in the symposium entitled “Organ-on-a-chip technologies meet biofabrication: towards physiologically relevant organ models”. Prof. Moroni is a founding member of the MERLN Institute for Technology-Inspired Regenerative Medicine at Maastricht University and in 2016, he became Full Professor in biofabrication for regenerative medicine. In InterLynk, Prof. Moroni and his team lead the experimental multimaterial process development work in Tissue Engineering.

Furthermore, during this year’s ESB conference, InterLynk coordinator Joao Mano has received the prestigious George Winter Award and held the inaugural lecture. Please read here for an entire news piece regarding this extraordinary achievement.
